VANS – ART RESIDENCY IN A
CONCEPT STORE
When Van’s opened up their concept store in Covent Garden, they had a basement with no where to go. They asked us to revive the KK Outlet gallery style of art programming for a 3 month residency. This resulted in 3 group shows each with their own themes:
Everyday Play: 11 international artists – including Put Put, Daniel Eatock, Dr Me, Clifford Jago and Gab Bois – reimagined everyday objects in unexpected ways.
Over the Wall: In a time of division, this show celebrated collaboration. 12 British and European artist duos, working together for the first timem created new work. Pairings included Pinar & Viola x Mark Titchner, Isabel & Helen x Jordy, and Sandrine Boulet x Martin Parr.
Flop Art: For the final month, past and present collaborators donated their ‘failed’ work – misprints, scrawled-over photos, ideas that didn’t quite land – all sold in support of Shelter. Artists included Luke Stephenson, Erik Kessels, Johan Kramer, Anthony Burrill, Mr Bingo, Mike Perry and Bompas & Parr.
We built the gallery from scratch and promoted the shows through PR, digital and social, alongside events like Meal Ticket (a three-course dinner with talks) and artist-led workshops.
