WHO THE HELL IS DAVE BELL?
I'm a writer and creative director, or should it be Executive Creative Director or Chief Creative Director, depending on where you stand on the whole Title Thing. At KesselsKramer, CD was as far as it got, owning to the somewhat flat non hierarchal, nature of the agency.
I was, until very recently, running KesselsKramer London, where I’d been since 2010. That includes helping citizenM grow from one hotel into a $400M brand sold to Marriott, and leading work for the likes of Greenpeace, Fairphone, the V&A, TfL, and Karma Cola. I work across advertising, branding, publishing, product development, activations and cultural projects, often for organisations trying to do things differently, or challenge the status quo.
Before that, I spent over a decade at KesselsKramer Amsterdam, helping shape work for brands like Diesel, Levi’s, Nike, and Absolut.
My background is in copywriting, but the work stretches, naturally, into creative guidance, strategy, new business, curation, and all other tasks and sub tasks related to running a small independent agency with a big reach.
I've taught at the School of Communication Arts, Chelsea College of Arts and spoken at events from Hong Kong to Oslo. I’ve judged for D&AD, The One Show, and Young Guns, and picked up awards from Cannes Lions, D&AD, and the British Arrows along the way. Are the British Arrows still going? Must check.
Outside of work, I run the odd marathon, experiment with AI film, write children’s stories, and contribute to Ocean Rebellion. I’m interested in ideas that shed light on creativity, on culture, and on how we might do things better, in a more human and more truthful way. A work in progress.
I’ve recently stepped away from the day-to-day of KesselsKramer’s orbit to focus on new, independent work which is why I’m here and why – hopefully – you’re here too.
